Here’s a fun collection of tutorials for making various forms of guerilla gardening artillery.  The concepts were created by Design Academy Eindhoven graduate Yoeri Treffers for Dutch Design Week 2009.

A little planning and this could be just the ticket for getting my kids more involved with the gardening!

  2. Paper Animals by Carlo Giovani

Elephant Paper Animal by Carlo Giovani

Brazilian illustrator and paper artist Carlo Giovani has created a nice niche for himself by making stylized papercuts for high profile clients (like the elephant pictured above, made for The New York Times). The stop motion paper animations created by Carlo and his design team are especially cool (you can view these out on his website).

  3. Naef Tree and Wood Identification Gift Box

Naef Wood and Tree Identification Gift Box

The ability to identify trees is one of those fundamental skills that is often overlooked. I love this gift set by Naef, which introduces children to the wide variety of textures and colors found in various types of wood. This would be a great project for kids to build on their own as well (my kids jump at any opportunity to use real tools).

    Original Sound Track Educational Toy

The train literally plays the track of this inventive music toy by designer Ricardo Seola. The track, which is designed with small bumps that pluck the metal keys on the front of the train, is divided into sections which children can rearrange to change the song.
