I wanted to share with you a fun DIY project that I made for one of my daughters’ room. We have a big Batman fan at home and this super easy DIY bedside lamp made her so happy!
We visited France with our girls last summer and stopped at the Mama Shelter hotel in Paris for a night before our morning flight back to the US. There, we saw this super cool idea of a bedside lamp made with a workshop light and a simple costume mask. So when we got home, I simply decided to shamelessly copycat the idea and voilà!
All you’ll need is a metal cage work light that you can hook to the wall, a mask and the necessary wall anchors to fix your lamp.
The metal cage part of the lamp is very important because it allows the bulb to never come in contact with the mask – which could be a fire hazard. We bought our lamp from Amazon [around $27 USD] but any home improvement store also sells some.
For the mask, you can choose any superhero mask, but Batman stands out from the pack, because when the light is on and Batman’s eyes light up, the superhero truly comes alive. However, I’ve seen other characters used for such bedside lamps at the Mama Shelter hotel – such as Disney characters, if you have a toddler that’s not yet into the Marvel superheroes.
If you’ve got a superhero fan at home and 5 minutes for this DIY project, I highly recommend. You’ll be voted the coolest mom of the neighborhood, and when it’s nighttime, Batman will be there for your little one to protect him/her from any imaginary super villains.
