Instructions For Stencil Boxes
Step 1
Assemble the cardboard boxes and seal the top and bottom with clear packing tape.
Step 2
Download and print the Printable Autobot Stencil on white card stock. Since these stencils are larger than 8.5-by-11 inch paper, there is some assembly required to fit the stencils to the 20-by-20 inch box. Cut out all four pieces of the stencil with your X-Acto knife and use the glue stick to assemble the pieces along the glue tabs.
Step 3
In an outdoor location, place your assembled Autobot Stencil face down on a layer of scrap paper. Spray a light to medium coat of repositionable spray mount evenly across the template. Then, position the stencil firmly in the center on one side of the box. Tip: It is important that the stencil is fixed smoothly to the box with no air bubbles or curling at the corners.
Step 4
Apply the red spray paint across the entire surface over the stencil. Make sure to spray directly on the surface of the box in quick, even strokes, coating the entire surface fully.
Tip: You may allow 5 minutes of drying time and repeat this step once or twice to get even coats and full coverage.
Step 5
Repeat steps 2-4 with the Printable Decepticon Stencil and the blue spray paint. Allow approximately 30 minutes of drying time for both boxes.
Instructions For Silver Star Stencil Box
Step 1
Assemble the cardboard boxes and seal the top and bottom with clear packing tape.
Step 2
Download and print the Printable Star Stencil on white card stock.
Step 3
In an outdoor location, place your fully assembled Star Stencil face down on a layer of scrap paper. Spray a light to medium coat of repositionable spray mount evenly across the template. Then, position the stencil firmly in the center on one side of the box.
Tip: It is important that the stencil is fixed smoothly to the box with no air bubbles or curling at the corners.
Step 4
Apply the metallic silver spray paint across the entire surface over the stencil. Make sure to spray directly on the surface of the box in quick, even strokes, coating the entire surface fully. Repeat this step on 2 other sides of the box, with all 8 boxes
Instructions For Assembling Photo Booth
Step 1
Assemble your DIY Transformers Photo Booth by stacking the boxes with the Autobot and the Decepticon boxes on top.
Step 2
Split the balloons into two bunches and fix to the top of the boxes on the outer edges of the photo booth with packing tape.
Step 3
Download and print the Printable “VS” Banner on white card stock. Cut the letters out along the dotted lines. Use your glue stick to attach the small white “V” to the large red “V” and do the same with the “S” shapes. Cut a piece of curling ribbon (approx. 23 inches long). Tape the ribbon to the back of the “V” and “S” with a 1/2 inch of space between the letters. Use the packing tape to hang the “VS” Banner between the Autobot and Deception boxes.
Step 4
Let your kids choose whether they want to be an Autobot or a Decepticon. Grab their swords and let the epic Transformers battle begin. All you have left to do now is grab as many fun pics as you can with your camera or smartphone!
Transformers Swords
These noodle swords are the perfect battle weapon and photo prop: they talk a mean talk but won’t hurt when they flop (on somebody’s head)!
What You Need
- Printable Sword Sheath Template (download here)
- Swim noodles (1 noodle makes 2 swords) view product
- White duct tape (1.88 inch) view product
- Red tape
- Blue tape
- Scissors view product
- White card stock (8.5-by-11 inch, 90 lb, 250 sheets per pack) view product
- X-Acto Knife view product
- Metal Ruler view product
Instructions
Step 1
Use scissors to cut the swim noodle in half. Then scrape any excess foam out of the middle to make the inner curve smoother.
Step 2
Cut the corners off one end so as to make a “sharp” pointed sword shape.
Step 3
Cover the noodle in white duct tape, pulling the tape vertically along the noodle and folding it over the edges. Use the red tape to line the edges of the noodle vertically from top to bottom. Run a single piece of tape down the middle, cutting a triangular slit at the bottom.
Step 4
Download and print the Printable Sword Sheaths on white card stock. Cut out the sheaths with your X-Acto knife and metal ruler.
Step 5
Slide the bottom (non-pointed side) of the noodle through the slits of the sheath so it is sitting at the base of the “sword”. Leave approximately 1/2 an inch of sword sticking out of the bottom of the sheath.
Step 6
On the back side of the sword, fold the sheath tabs down and fix it to the sword with the red tape.
Tip: Make sure there is enough room for a hand to rest between the sheath and the sword comfortably before you tape the sheath.
Step 7
Wrap two pieces of tape around the base of the sword below the sheath and prepare for an epic battle!
