Chase Away Boredom Blues With A DIY Idea Box

Chase Away The Boredom Blues With A DIY Idea Box

“Mom, I am so bored!” I do not know how many times I hear that on the weekends. This can be frustrating as a parent, especially when you see all your kids’ toys, games, books, etc. How can they possibly be bored? So, last week, I made a “I am so bored, Mom” box, without telling the kids. I wrote down a few ideas. Make some cookies for your friends. Do a silly dance. Write a story about yourself. Paint a self-portrait. Do three cartwheels. Make a castle out of Lego. Kiss your brother and hug him. Pull an ugly face. Pretend to be Superman. Pick any fun ideas and write them down.

The weekend arrived and I was waiting for that moment when one of them said, “Mom, I am SO BORED!” This time I was prepared and I showed them the box. We picked few slips of paper, and after a while no one was bored!

Since then, I’ve kept adding ideas to make sure the kids have something new. The box is where they can dip in at any time. Now the word:”bored” is out of the kids’ vocabulary! At least for a little bit…

Step 2
Cut the paper to size and glue it to your box.

Step 3
Now decorate your box. I used some funny stickers to create a face. Then I wrote “I AM BORED” on it and noted a few activities. On your leftover paper, write few activities you can do with your kids – or without.

That is it! Now it is time to play and not get bored again!
