Creating Art Spaces for Kids

Creating Art Spaces for Kids

Having a creative space for kids at home is a must not only for them but for us! :) Parents know the experience of finding sheets, paints, scissors or washi tape everywhere. You know how kids are, they conquer every single space until they have a huge play room! So, today, I bring you lots of ideas to create that special zone and 10 powerful reasons to develop kids’ creativity and bring art into their lives.

1 - It stimulates both creativity and imagination

The Con Botas de Agua blog’s author, Beatriz Gaspar, shows a new creative space for her daughters. She really knows the importance of encouraging creativity. Ikea’s trolley is a great idea to keep everything organized: tins, paints, paint brushes…the wall decoration combines several paintings and printings by Menudos Cuadros and the artworks created by the little artist of this house.

2 - It’s a good way to identify and transmit emotions

The Biblioteka restaurant is a perfect place to enjoy a great meal. It’s located in St. Petersburg and it includes a kids’ space so parents can have their lunch while kids enjoy and have a great time at this original play area.

Yeka Haski, a local illustrator and designer, created the design of the play zone where she wanted to include a fantasy world where kids could have fun while it stimulates their senses. All the inner design of this zone is based on a tale whose main character is Wivy the cloud who lives there with its friends. Although this is a public space there are lots of ideas here that we can apply to our house!

4 - It improves visual perception and educates aesthetic look

A big mural or a well-chosen wallpaper can be really helpful to limit our creative zone. We choose color and fun for this stimulating area.

5 - Creative processes involve concentration, fine mobility and improve self-esteem

I really love Nordic spaces for kids. If I had to create a creative zone I would surely include this trend with Bloomingville furniture and complements, they are great!

8 - It takes us to other worlds, other cultures, other points of view which help us to be more empathetic

I follow a lot of amazing Instagram accounts but there is one specially lovely for me. This mum can´t be more creative, her Instagram account is a complete showcase of cool trends linked to kids’ decoration.

9 - Working as a team to create a group

Do you think is not enough? Is art important for kids’ development? I think so, so this year I have included an easel, some canvas and paints on my daughter’s list for Santa. Who knows what kind of artwork can we get? ;)
