When you live on a farm, you frequently become the go-to source for those with pets that have “outgrown” their space. We recently acquired a new pet duck, Quackie, who surprisingly behaves much like a family dog. We have a number of wild ducks on our lake, but never one that was domesticated like Quackie. He’s really a lot of fun, swimming in the lake with the kids (he likes to dive and swim between their legs) and generally following you wherever you go (fully expecting to be allowed in the house).
Ducks = the new family dog?

My husband’s family had a duck when he was little. “Ping” lived in the back yard with the family dog. This was in LA, not the country! After Ping came on the scene, the dog decided he liked lettuce, so as to compete with Ping for his food! lol
Like the book ‘PING”! I am in LOVE with this duck. I can not handle how great he is. He is at my front door right now quacking at me to get in!
Aww, Quackie! It was great talking to you at the pool today! Love your stuff on etsy. Thanks for all the great advice.

Aw, we duck-sat for a couple weeks recently. Ben, the duck we were watching, sounds very much like your duck–very socialized! It was a lot of fun keeping him (except for all the poop!)

Quackie is darling! I love that he swims between the kids’ legs. That is just too darn cute. I adore ducks, yet despite the fact that he loves the taste of duck eggs, I can’t convince my hunky farmguy that we really *need* to add some happy little quackers to our menagerie.
You’ve got to convince him, they are so much fun!
A duck sounds like a lot of fun. I’m young, and most certainly to have a farm like atmosphere that you have when I grow up. How does the duck poop situation go, just wondering!
