Hootie Cake

owl cake

I absolutely love this owl cake by sideways glances. I actually made a version of this cake myself, I’ll upload a few pictures when I get a chance. It’s easy to make & achieve great results.

  • Bake your cake in a square baking pan. Once it’s done, round off the bottom of the cake and cut a crescent shape off of the top to make the ears.
  • Decorate with chocolate & vanilla icing of your choice, using the above photo as a guide.
  • Use shortbread cookies for the eyes, placing a black-eyed pea in the center of each cookie.
  • Finish off the cake with a candy corn nose and almond chips for plumage.

Have fun and let me know how it turns out!

I’m not sure if there are directions posted anywhere, but here’s some notes from my attempt:
    – bake the cake in a square pan and round off the bottom
    – cut a crescent shape off the top of the cake to make the ears
    – eyes: shortbread cookies with a black-eyed pea in the middle
    – nose: candy corn
    – use almond flakes for the feathers (to place in the area with white icing)

    hope this helps!
