Into the end zone and—yes, I can’t believe it—touchdown! I grew up with a football watching and playing family.  We ate Super Bowl chili like nobody’s business and my mom wrapped wool blankets around our shoulders while we watched the not-to-be-missed Notre Dame vs Michigan games. The pig skin still spirals around our home (inside as well as outside) and the love for sweat, blood, and tears was passed on to my tiny men.

Jonah (11) and Murphy (9) love to play every sport on the planet and football is definitely a sport at the top of their list. When ProCamps invited our boys to train in a close-to-pro experience with Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, the boys were pumped—and did I say ‘oh-my-gosh-out-of-their-minds’? They laced up their cross trainers, smeared black paint under their eyes, and hit the field.

Coaches from colleges across the country and high schools in the area ran our crew through intense drills for two days straight. The camp was extremely kid-focused and everyone got a chance to interact with the Super Bowl-playing superstar.

It was really cool to watch the kids catch a pass from an actual NFL player. Roddy was hamming it up with all of the kids but also giving valuable tips and life lessons beyond the field. Passion, dedication, and hard work were woven into all of  his messaging.  For Roddy, catching footballs was his absolute favorite thing to do—every time he spoke about it a smile the size of Texas spread across his face!

The camp was a once in a lifetime experience that gave the kids a glimpse of what it takes to be a champion, not only on the football field, but in life. Now that’s awesome!
