Kid’s Room Tour: Bruno The Superhero

Bruno The Superhero Room Tour

Graphic designer Natalia Ferrero shares the colorful & crafty DIY space she created for her son Bruno.

Super Bruno likes to fly. Since he was born, his dad has been flying him around the family home with wings on his back. Bruno’s the son of Natalia Ferrero, the graphic designer for the interior design and lifestyle magazine Singulares, and he has a dreamy room, decorated very stylishly by mom and dad with lots of DIY projects and customized pieces from Ikea and other popular chain stores.

Bruno’s room is filled with colorful accents, from bright graphical children’s book covers to colorful and practical storage bins. We are completely falling for the room of this superhero.

A simple colorful felt pendant banner, created for Bruno’s first birthday, creates both color and texture in the room.

A simple rug and oversized throw pillows can visually break up a room and also provide a cozy corner for playing with a toy or reading a book.

This display of day-to-day clothes, toys, and accessories makes the room accessible, cozy, and modern.

The white walls and understated shelves allow the color of the clothes, shoes, and toys to do the work of providing color to the room. Monochromatic garland and accessories add a layer of playfulness without overwhelming.

Bruno’s wall storage cabinets are actually Ikea kitchen cabinets hacked and repurposed into a very clever toy storage and floor space-saving option. The inside of the door is painted with chalkboard paint so that Bruno can easily express his own creativity.

This room is a good example of how inexpensive or salvaged pieces of furniture and a fresh coat of paint can come together with fun and easy DIY projects of all types to create a room brimming with comfort, warmth, and inspiration.

Hooks at child level are a great way to add a subtle splash of color and can hold either baby’s cold-weather accessories or a toddler’s dress up clothes.

Children’s books are designed so beautifully that it’s no wonder Natalia would use them as part of the decor on these slender shelves. She picked some from her own childhood as well as those bought for Bruno before he was born.
