Making finger puppets is a great craft activity for children of all ages. I’m a huge fan. It’s simple, easy, and kids love using them to play make believe for hours on end.
This craft doesn’t create a very long story, but the simple message of “I LOVE YOU” is perfect for Valentine’s Day (or any other day, for that matter). The finger craft letters are super easy to make. Simply print the template, cut, add some glue, fold your envelope, give it to someone special, and see what happens.
After opening the envelope, the recipient will have to find out what all the letters say (like a puzzle) and wear them, one after the other. The rainbow colors will guide them through. Both the one who gives and the one who receives will have a little fun while sharing the love.
What You Need
- Printable “I LOVE YOU” template (download here – I choose to make a rainbow by printing “I LOVE YOU” on yellow, orange, pink, red, etc. papers)
- Printable envelope template (download here)
Gather all of your supplies, including your printed templates using different colored papers. To make the rainbow message, start by cutting the “I” from your printed yellow I LOVE YOU template. Then the “L” from the orange one, etc… until you are done.
Now that you have all your letters at different colors, turn each of them on the other side. Cut a strand of paper and fold it on both sides. Glue it to your letter. This will be where you will insert your finger. Repeat for each letter, as pictured above.
Cut your envelope template, fold it, glue where necessary, and add your letters. Seal the envelope. All done! Give the card to a loved one and share the fun :)
