Flying High

Airplane garland from Ruffled Blog.

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that can bring the most pleasure. We’ve been doing lots of big summer activities, from trips to the amusement parks to family camping and barbecues. But all of us are beginning to experience a little summer fatigue.

Not that I’m ready for summer to end—I never am. But I realized the other day we’ve never tried to fly paper planes outside. And a new activity was born! So stretch your own wings and play with some soaring, floating feelings today. Even if you don’t travel beyond your own front yard, you can still have an adventure.

I can’t wait to test out a straw plane, have you ever made one? These little variations are a great science experiment too: which one will fly the farthest? Who’s going to win?

The original from Lauren Clark for this plane mobile is gone, but you can see how to make your own pretty clearly from the photos. I love that she used comic book pages for the planes!

Keep those floating feelings alive every time you look at this sweet little project hanging on your wall. This is the kind of embroidery project I think I can handle.

I can’t find the original link for this pin, but you can print the vintage graphic out straight from the pin anyway. Isn’t this plane adorable? And it’s in my favorite shade of blue.

Now here’s a quick way to get a little more oomph behind that airplane throw. Perfect for a who-can-launch-it-farthest friendly family competition.
