These gor­geous jute and leather toys were designed by Renate Müller and pro­duced in the late 1960’s for Ger­man man­u­fac­turer H. Josef Leven. Intended for ther­a­peu­tic use, they have all sorts of han­dles and tabs for tug­ging, wrestling, hug­ging and riding.

Devel­oped for ther­a­peu­tic use, this menagerie of ani­mals was used for bal­ance train­ing and ortho­pe­dic exer­cises by men­tally and phys­i­cally hand­i­capped chil­dren. The toys debuted at the Leipzip Trade Fair in 1967 and con­tin­ued annu­ally. Each year Müller added new per­son­al­i­ties to the col­lec­tion.
