White Chocolate Heart Toppers

White Chocolate Heart Treat Toppers

For me, Valentine’s Day is pretty much just an excuse to eat chocolate (and lots of it!). This year I had planned on simply making chocolate cupcakes, but decided that some sort of heart-shaped decoration would be a nice addition. These white chocolate hearts were the perfect touch! And good news: they are super easy. You can make any size, any color, any shape!

What You Need

  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • Food coloring

How-To

Step 1
Line a few half-sheet pans with parchment paper and set aside.

Step 2
Pour the white chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl. Heat the chips for about 1 minute, stopping every 15 seconds to stir the chips. As soon as they are melted and smooth, take the bowl out of the microwave and add a few drops of food coloring, stirring to combine.

Step 3
Fill a pastry bag with the melted chocolate and using a small, round tip (I used a Wilton #2), pipe chocolate heart shapes onto the parchment paper. (If you do not have a pastry bag or tips, you can fill a plastic freezer bag with the melted chocolate and make a small cut in the corner of the bag to pipe with). Work quickly before the chocolate cools and hardens!

Make the hearts as thin or as thick as you desire, but remember the thinner they are, the easier they will break.

Step 4
Let the hearts cool at room temperature for 2 hours, then carefully peel them off the parchment paper. Decorate cakes, cupcakes, and cookies… or just eat them as is (no judgement here!).

I used my favorite chocolate cake recipe for the cupcakes. Hearts inspired by this cake.
