After a visit to the UK last week, I have to say there really is no place like home. I’m lucky to live in the South of France but there’s something very special about going back to your roots, rediscovering your hometown, and even seeing the house you grew up in.

Understandably, houses are hugely popular in the children’s design world. From throw blankets to nook beds to doll houses, there’s no shortage of inspiring playthings out there for children to learn about the importance of belonging and creating a home.

Fun with a capital F! Discovered via afilii, this super playhouse is made from eco-cotton cushions and can be assembled and dismantled in no time. Held together with zips and press studs, the house transforms into a big gym mat and play space; a comfy sofa and can even be used as a bed. Kids will just love this, I’m sure!

Speaking of decorating children’s bedrooms, these bright and cheerful Russian house ornaments would certainly add a playful touch to a nursery or kids’ space. Laser-cut in plywood, they have a distressed finish and, well, they just make me happy!

Okay, this isn’t a house but it’s so adorable, I had to share anyway!  Made from printed recycled cardboard, this sturdy café playhouse can be assembled anywhere in your home and will delight little and big kids alike. Terribly chic and something a little bit different, it would make a super Christmas present, n’est-ce pas?
