Halloween? It’s Monster Season!

Silly Monsters

I’m a huge fan of monsters, aren’t you? They can look like practically anything, and if you avoid the truly scary ones, they can be really cute and friendly too. In my designing world, I’m always looking for excuses to play with new ways to design a monster.

So it’s no surprise to me that when October rolls around, all I want to do is celebrate monsters. I think we should just call this time of year Monster Season! It’s the best excuse I can think of to make all kinds of fun, kooky, quirky monster crafts. Check out some of my new favorites!

Cereal Box Monster Jaws

This little monster is just brilliant – and a perfect craft and learning activity for the little engineers in your house. They could even dress up the end results with feathers, markers, and other crafty doodads.

Monster Puppet Gloves

Tutorial via Hello Natural

Just in time for chilly Fall days, these gloves will help your kids actually WANT to wear them. I don’t know about your house, but that’s always a struggle over here.

Love Monsters

They remind me a little bit of Cousin It, and that’s a good thing. It’s a great way to de-stash some of your yarn hall too (I can’t be the only one with that problem, right?)

Glove Toys

Tutorial via Canadian Family

These would be a great easy sewing project for kids, my daughter loves sewing buttons onto things (which is useful, because I don’t like it one bit!). I also love the muted colors of these little monsters – it’s nice and unexpected.

Little Monster Books

Tutorial via Instructables

You don’t have to know a thing about Harry Potter to be in love with these little books. They’re like a toy and a book rolled into one – and I can already hear the funny voices my girl would use to make them come to life!
