Over the years, we’ve made our fair share of dioramas for just about every holiday or occasion. We’re diorama obsessed! Until recently though, it never quite occurred to us that we were missing a super fun spin on the classic diorama and that what we’re sharing today: edible candy dioramas! We used rice krispie treats as our starting point, but you can really use almost any sweet treat that you like, including cookies, cupcakes, or bars.

We wanted to make dinosaur dioramas (say that five times fast!) so we just knew we had to use these adorable dino Stickies from Make Bake Shop. 100% edible and free of gluten, dairy, and nuts, these playful stickers are made from sugar “paper” and as easy to use as regular stickers! Just top your chosen treat with frosting or melted chocolate and place the stickers right on, easy as can be. We also used their matching sprinkles as decorations for our dioramas as colorful grass for the dinos to stand on.

This is the perfect way to use up assorted candy in your pantry too – think of these as gingerbread houses but for any time of year! Green spearmint gummy leaves make perfect trees and bushes while yellow hard candies can be turned into the sun. Get creative with the candies you have on hand!

We melted white and green chocolate wafers together to make this pale green color that we used as the base for our dioramas. Using chocolate is great because once it hardens, the dioramas are easy to stack and store in a container. But keep in mind that the chocolate hardens fairly quickly, so little ones might have trouble choosing their candies and sticking them into the chocolate before it’s hardened. If you think this may be the case for your kids, we recommend using regular frosting instead so that there isn’t a rush to get the candies attached. Stickies work great with both frosting or melted chocolate! If the melted chocolate has hardened before you place your dino Stickies onto the diorama, use a damp pastry brush to apply the smallest amount of water onto the chocolate and place the Stickie on top. Perfect!
