Treetop Robins Printable Diorama Playset

Have you ever wanted to climb to the treetops, or better yet, fly there? Make this adorable tree diorama and you can play with a family of robins! All you have to do to join these feathered friends is print, cut, and glue.

All of the robin pieces are part of the downloadable PDF, but you can also make them a tree with a paper bag and some cut out leaves. The robins will love playing in and around this simple tree!

You can use the pieces to make a scene like a diorama (which is also great for school projects!), but it’s a lot of fun to play with the pieces, imagine the robins talking with each other, and even interact with other animals.

You might even want to print the rest of the series so all the animals can play. The Alpaca Farm is one of our favorites!

Step 2
Cut out all of the pieces with the tabs attached. You can leave the spaces around the legs in place so they have more stability.

Step 3
Use one side of the scissors to score each piece along the top of the tab. This makes it easier to fold.

Fold the tabs back so that the robins can stand on their own.

Step 4
For the nest pieces, score and fold all the lines on the large tabs. Apply glue stick to the small tab on the end.

Fold the long tab around and glue it to the back of the nest. This forms a little shelf.

Now the baby robins (or the eggs and mama) can sit in the nest!

Step 5
To make a tree, cut 1-inch wide strips at the top of a paper lunch bag. Cut about 1/3 of the way down the bag.

Open the bag and twist it just below the cuts. This makes the trunk and the base. Twist the cut strips a little to make the branches.

Glue the leaves to the branches.

You don’t need to fill the branches with leaves, but you can cut out more from green paper if you want!

Step 7
To help your robins fly, cut a small loop of thread and tape it to the back of the flying robins.

Hang the robins in the tree so they are part of the diorama or hold the loops and make them fly around as you play!

By arranging the branches a little, you can set the nest in the tree, then add the baby robins who are waiting for their next meal. The nest also works with the eggs and the mama, either together or separately.

The whole robin family gets to enjoy this tree and the area around it! You can move the pieces around to make different scenes or to play and act out a little story. Imagination makes this even better!

Of course, this is also a good learning opportunity! Be sure to look up some facts about robins, including the differences between American European robins. Can you tell which kind these are in this playset?

Happy crafting!
