Printable City Raccoon Diorama Playset

Print and cut out these curious (and hungry!) raccoons and make a fun scene in the park! They can play on a park bench, dig through the trash, and even wash their breakfast in the fountain. It only takes a few minutes to set up with our free printable diorama playset!

You may think of raccoons as forest friends, but they have also adapted to city and suburban life. In fact, raccoons who live near humans have become smarter than their relatives who still live in natural habitats! They climb, crawl, and figure things out.

One thing raccoons are known for is digging in trash cans, so we included a few spots for them to look for food. There’s even a piece of cotton candy, just like the cotton candy raccoon gif. (If you haven’t seen it, look it up…it’s both funny and sad!)

This is the last in our series of animal habitat diorama playsets, each of which has a group of critters with a recycled habitat element. The latest printable features robins living in a tree. And we couldn’t resist using a pizza box for these raccoons!

Step 1
Print the PDF playset on cardstock. You can print the full-color version that you see through this post or the black and white version so you can decorate it yourself. We used markers for this, but crayons, pencils, or even watercolors would be good too.

Step 2
Cut out the pieces. Some parts are tiny, but small scissors help. Be sure to keep the tabs attached.

Step 3
Use the scissors to score along the tops of the tabs. This makes it easier to fold them.

Fold the tabs back so that the pieces stand up.

Step 4
To assemble the park bench, cut around the edge, then score it for folding. Score along:

  • the top of the lines on the top of the bench back
  • the dotted line between the back and seat of the bench
  • the bottom line of the bench bottom
  • the top of the tab

Fold the lines so it makes a seat.

There are lots of ways to arrange these rascally raccoons as they play in the park. You can even use a roll of removable tape (or a dab of glue) to help one of them pop out of the rolling recycling bin!

While one furry friend sniffs a bag of chips, another might find part of a pizza slice. You can also add more trash to the scene by crumpling little balls of paper.

When you’re done playing, put all the pieces inside the pizza box until you’re ready to play again!
