Kids can easily learn what an ideal portion should look like. Ava, Kieran and I had fun this morning packing up our midday meals. The littles were a little miffed to learn that sweets go in the smallest container, while greens and proteins happily take up larger sections. Bummer, right?
The Sandwich Kit includes 2 Snack Containers, 1 Side Container, 1 Sandwich Container and 1 Medium Blue Ice which all snap together to keep things organized. The Blue Ice freezer pack keeps lunch foods cold and fresh. All LunchBlox® Sandwich Kits are BPA free. I love the fact that by using a container like this, we use fewer plastic bags. The littles had a blast filling in their sections. I think having them participate in the packing will help them take more ownership and maybe make fewer trades at the lunch table.
We liked the idea of making a themed lunch with these little individual containers. Today we made our meal ‘Bento Box’ style with little Sushi-like meat & veggie wraps cut into rounds. Fruit cut into shapes and served with a dipping sauce (yogurt mixed with cocoa powder!) reminded us of a healthier vegetable tempura. Plus, what kid doesn’t love having something to dip their food in?! We finished up with a Provolone cheese ‘Fortune Cookie’, complete with a tiny customizable note perfect for sending along a little love.
