Making collages can be so much fun! I love using a variety of materials: magazine clippings, ribbons, bits of colored paper, and photographs are a few of my favorites. Even as a kid I loved making collages – I remember really enjoying the process of arranging and gluing all the paper scraps and then seeing how the project came together at the end.
For today’s project, I’ve made a printable template of a crocodile family to use as a starting point. Print the templates, and follow the brief instructions below for an afternoon of cut and pasting fun! My kids made a few crocodile collages themselves, and they really got into the process. Their faces were just glowing when they saw the final results!
What You Need
- Two sets of the Crocodile Collage Printable Templates (download here)
- Colored papers, magazines, etc
- Scissors and/or craft knife
- Markers (optional)
Take the two same printed crocodile shape: set one aside, but use scissors or a craft knife to carefully cut out the other from the paper, as shown below.
Cut or rip your papers in various shapes and sizes. Glue the pieces over the crocodile shape. There are no rules, so have fun with this step!
Let the collage dry.
Glue the precut crocodile sheet over the collaged one. Let dry and voila! You can frame your art or hang directly on the wall.
