December is right around the corner, and we are getting pretty excited around here. One of our family’s favorite ways to ring in the holiday season is with an advent calendar! This jar advent calendar is simple, cheap, and fun. So basically it’s perfect, right? Make the jar, add slips of paper with the magical holiday activities on them, and enjoy the countdown!

What You Need

• Jar
• Paint markers
• Paper
• Scissors
• Tape

Step 1
Clean the jar really well and decide what you would like to paint onto it. Then paint it on! If you mess up, don’t worry. You can run the jar under hot water and scrub the paint off with a sponge.

Step 2
If you feel inclined, you can add the fun little polka dots. Snow maybe? Whatever they are, I love them.

Step 3
Cut up strips of paper. I just folded printer paper in half, then cut the strips to get even slips of paper.

Step 4
Grab your pen and write all the magical things you want to do with your little ones before Christmas arrives. My favorites are a snowball fight, make Christmas cookies, and drink hot cocoa.

Step 5
If you want to add a little pop of color, grab some fun tapes to fasten the slips of paper closed.

And you’re done! Enjoy your new advent jar and all the holiday fun that comes with it!
