DIY Pretzel Stress Balls

Pretzel Stress Balls

Whenever a craft idea comes to mind that has the potential to be twisted into a pretzel, it must be done! I adore anything and everything “pretzel”… chocolate covered, soft pretzels with salt, pretzel rods—you name it!

Anyway, I was thinking about how often we fill balloons with flour to create our own stress balls, and wondered if a long, skinny one from a twisty balloon would have the same effect. Of course, there was also the hope that it would twist nicely into a pretzel!

I could play with these for hours. They twist into pretzels, fun nautical knots, and whatever else, while also relieving stress. Seriously! The kids love playing with them and getting creative with different formations. My son twisted several together and arranged them into numbers and knots. Technically, these aren’t “balls,” but calling them stress “sticks” just doesn’t sound right!

If you decide to go with an entire pretzel-themed day, be sure to make these darling French knit pretzel necklaces and a few candy pretzel necklaces as well. That should be enough to get an amazing pretzel party started! Host a family party in your home or plan a pretzel-themed reunion for later.

  • Small funnel

how-to:

Pretzel Stress Balls

Step 1
Use your balloon pump to blow up a twisty balloon – all the way. Rather than tying it off, let the air back out. This will stretch the balloon out, making it easier to fill with flour.

Step 2
Insert the funnel in the end of the balloon and use a spoon to place tiny scoops of flour into the funnel. You will have to shake the flour into the balloon and use your fingers to squeeze it to the bottom. Continue filling the balloon with flour until you reach the top, and then remove the funnel.

Step 3
Tie off the end of the balloon and twist the balloon into a pretzel shape by folding it as if you are going to tie a knot, but then spread the knot out to look like a pretzel. Alternatively, you can braid the balloons together, knot them, shape them into numbers, squeeze them.. get creative!
