Summer is on its way, and our anticipation of hot temperatures and desert themes come to life in this crunchy, cool, flavorful and extra nutritious snack! These teepees are an edible craft that all ages will enjoy building (and eating!). Similac’s Go & Grow Mix-ins add an extra dose of protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals to the delicious Ranchero Dip that accompanies these edible teepees.
Since it can be hard to fit in all the nutrients our little ones need in a day, Similac is making it easy for us… and tasty! Similac Go & Grow Mix-ins dissolve instantly when mixed into your toddler’s food and enhances it to support the brain, eyes, growth, and overall nutrition. Visit the Similac website for free samples!
What You Need
- 16 ounces sour cream
- 1 packet ranch dip mix
- 1 cup salsa
- 1 packet Similac Go & Grow
- Celery stalks, washed
- Carrots, peeled
- Assorted slices of thinly sliced cheese (Colby Jack, Cheddar, Swiss, Provolone)
- Twine (optional)
Place the sour cream, ranch dip mix, salsa, and Similac Go & Grow powder in a large mixing bowl.
Stir with a spoon until well combined. Cover and store in the fridge until it’s time to serve it.
Cut celery stalks and carrots into sticks that are about 6 inches long and 1/4-inch thick.
Gather six carrot or celery sticks and tie them together at the top with a small piece of twine, or you can even use a piece of the thick stringy fiber on the outside of a celery stick to keep the entire teepee edible.
Stand the celery or carrot bundle up with the tied end at the top. Spread the sticks out in a circle so that the bundle stands on its own like a teepee.
Lay slices of cheese across the teepee as a covering with one small section left uncovered as the opening.
Cut shapes out of another color of cheese such as zigzags, polkas dots, and stripes. Lay them over the cheese-covered teepee in any pattern you like.
Serve with the ranchero dip and more sliced vegetables. Cut the vegetables into shapes like buffalo, birds, and arrows for a fun, Southwestern-themed snack!
