Gear Up For A DIY Summer Of Discovery

Gear up for a DIY summer of discovery!

Summer, glorious summer! My kids love to soak in the sunshine and turn all of the good vibrations into creativity. We like to provide them with all the tools they need to capture their insatiable appetite for discovery, making sure they have plenty of DIY projects and supplies to collect their curious finds.

We’re going to share three DIY projects guaranteed to ignite your child’s inner Magellan. They’ll love folding their own cricket cage, publishing their first board book, and stitching up their very own action pack.

Let’s get started!

Field Notes Action Pack Sewing Pattern & Self Published Board Book

Your budding naturalist will love wearing an “action pack” that they made with your help. The stitched-up wonder pack can be worn around the waist or as a necklace with the included strap. Download our free printable sewing pattern and supply list to whip-up a pack of your own.

The self-published board book is a snap to create, thanks to the Kid Made Modern Board Book Kit ($14.99). Our daughter Charlotte absolutely loved the crazy vinyl designs and patterns included with the kit. We helped her create an outline before she started clipping, snipping, and drawing.

What child isn’t crazy about lovely little chirping circuits? Check out this tiny cage that houses a sweet little cricket to observe and set free once you’ve given the jumper a good looking over.

To make a cricket cage of your own, grab a Kid Made Modern Construction Zone Paper Pad ($7.99), download the free printable template, and fold one up for yourself. It’s super simple and loads of fun!

Now you’re ready to take your little one by the hand and head to the great outdoors! It’s time to have a blast rediscovering the world through the rainbow-colored lens of a child.

Happy crafting :)
